Marie Dewet, the Founder and creative force behind MaisonCléo, shared, “I spent my childhood holidays several times a year in Brittany with my Breton grandfather and other families. My great-grandmother, Maï (known as ‘Marie’ in Breton), with her long hair down to her feet, was dressed in traditional clothes and a cap in her youth. My grandfather was a sailor, he went on a lot of adventures around the world. He spoke in the Breton language with his friends, and even when speaking French, he had the Breton accent.”
The collection seamlessly incorporates waterproof fabrics and a warm palette of yellow, reminiscent of the iconic yellow raincoats that shield Brittany’s inhabitants from its perpetual rainfall. Variations in blue tones and stripes patterns evoke the endless blue sea and the uniforms of courageous sea heroes. Since its débutant, MaisonCléo has consistently woven its heritage into its design, making Bigoudène lace, velvet, embroidery, puffy sleeves, and oversized collars all familiar elements within the repertoire of this Instagram-viral French fashion house.
”La Poupette” marks MaisonCléo’s fourth fashion show and reaffirms the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Remaining true to its debut principle, MaisonCléo ingeniously repurposes leftover fabric into sexy and confident creations.
